Sarah Cazares is a Senior Therapist at CEDAR with advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) through Oxford University. She brings warmth, clinical depth, and steady support to her work with teens, adults, and families navigating eating disorders and co-occurring anxiety.
Sarah’s approach centers on helping clients build recovery within their real lives—at home, school, work, and in their communities. She believes healing is strongest when families and loved ones are actively involved. By creating safe, collaborative spaces, Sarah helps clients transform vulnerability into connection, fostering lasting change.
Skilled in treating a broad range of eating disorder presentations, Sarah tailors care to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. Her clients often describe her genuine, nonjudgmental presence as key to staying motivated throughout recovery, with many choosing to continue working with her over time.
In addition to CBT-E, Sarah treats anxiety using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also incorporates outdoor therapy, valuing nature and movement as powerful tools for emotional growth and self-awareness.
Sarah earned her Master of Social Work from The University of Kansas in 2016. She has worked in diverse clinical settings supporting adolescents, young adults, and adults across all levels of care. Known for her clinical integrity and thoughtful leadership, she remains dedicated to ongoing professional development.
At CEDAR, Sarah contributes to delivering expert, evidence-based care and helps cultivate an inclusive, family-oriented environment. She is deeply committed to CEDAR’s mission of making full recovery accessible and supporting clients as they move forward with confidence.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys exploring Richmond’s James River Park System with her two dogs, and is a fan of movies and live music, especially at the Byrd Theater and The National. She also loves supporting local RVA businesses, from farmers markets to restaurants.
